Do I Really Need a Wedding Website?

As you begin wedding planning, you will be making many big decisions early on!  There may be a great deal of pressure to start a wedding website when you begin your planning.  I’ve made a short list to help you compare the pros and cons of having a wedding website!

Pro 1:  It will help you be organized.

Having all of the details in one website for your wedding will help you stay organized.  As a couple, you can use this as a reference when you need to remember the specifics! There are some amazing resources from different websites for you to organize your planning and timeline.

Pro 2:  Guests can find helpful information.

A great pro to having a wedding website is that guests can easily access important information from your website.  Did they lose their physical invitation and need to know the time of the ceremony? Many common questions that guests may have can be answered on your website, so you won’t have to answer the same question multiple times!

Pro 3:  It makes listing your registries less awkward.

One piece of information you can list on your website is where you registered!  Instead of sending mass registry information to all your guests, they can access it at their leisure.  You can even add links to the places where you’ve registered. You won’t have to directly ask for gifts because your guests can find all this information on their own.

Pro 4:  You can also use the website for photo sharing after your wedding.

Most guests will never get to see the amazing professional photos from your wedding.  You can easily add a link for guests to view a selection of your favorite wedding photos.  There are also tons of photo sharing sites where guests can upload their personal photos for you to enjoy.

Con 1:  Your personal information is out there on the Internet.

Having personal information about your wedding posted on the Internet can feel very strange and somewhat uncomfortable.  Some couples choose not to have a wedding website because they want to keep the time and location of their wedding, etc. private from any strangers who could stumble upon a link to your website — though this happening would be very rare.  You do have the option to create a password for your wedding website if this is a serious concern to you.

Con 2:  Not every guest will use your website, so you might still have to answer a few questions.

Not everyone will automatically go to your website for answers to their questions, so you will likely still have to answer a few questions.

A wedding website is a nice solution for getting important information to your guests, but whether or not you choose to have one is a completely personal decision.

I hope you found this information helpful to decide whether or not to have a wedding website. Have any other questions? Shoot me an email at savannah@lukeandsavannah.com or check out other blog articles. Ready to book? Hit me up here.
